thumb_school-teacher-parentsTYLER – Students returned to campuses this week to see large amounts of progress made on Tyler ISD Bond 2013 construction projects, according to a news release from TISD. Bond 2013 projects include the new Career and Technology Center (CTC), two new middle school campuses at the existing Moore MST Magnet School and Boulter Middle School locations, the new Three Lakes Middle School in South Tyler, and renovations and additions to Dixie and Rice elementary schools.

Remodeled classrooms greeted some students at Dixie Elementary School. The new gym, cafeteria, music room, 12 additional classrooms, and the front parking lot are scheduled to be complete in October. At Rice Elementary School, 22 new classrooms are now complete along with the new gym, music room, cafeteria, and kitchen. Visitors and staff are also enjoying the use of two new parking lots off Old Bullard Road and Carriage Drive.

The middle school campuses are in full swing with foundation work, poured concrete, wall framing and masonry work all underway. At Moore, ductwork, electrical, plumbing and other above ceiling rough-ins are progressing in the first two wings of the building. Steel erection is nearing completion in the third wing, foundations are complete in the fourth wing, and concrete walls are being installed in the remaining areas of the campus.

At the Boulter campus, concrete foundations in some areas are complete and slabs have been poured allowing for the steel erection process to begin. Underground plumbing and the backfill of the basement are also underway. At the new Three Lakes Middle School, there are two building slab pours remaining and structural steel erection is complete in three areas. The roof deck has also been installed, and roofing is now underway. Other projects underway include exterior wall framing and sheeting, masonry work and second-floor slab work.

As brickwork on the main building of the CTC is almost complete, it is exciting to see the beautiful exterior taking shape, according to officials. Window frames, door fronts, and glass are being installed throughout the building. Sheetrock installation and interior painting continues while permanent power is ready to be turned on to the main building. Visit http://www.tylerisd.org for more information on Bond 2013 updates.
