thumb_path-logoTYLER — PATH Week activities in Tyler culminated Thursday night with the annual Philanthropy Celebration. The highlight came as former PATH Executive Director Nancy Lamar was recognized with the agency’s highest honor — the Gertrude Windsor Award. Former Mayor Barbara Bass, last year’s Gertrude Windsor Award winner, introduced Lamar as “truly a servant leader” who made PATH a better and stronger organization.

Lamar has a long track record of community involvement. She devoted much of her speech to accolades for the PATH founder, for whom the award is named. Lamar told attendees at Willow Brook Country Club, “You cannot begin to imagine how deeply touched I am” to be associated with Mrs. Windsor. Lamar added that her associations with various people in Tyler have made it “impossible not to do well.”

Among other things, attendees also watched a closing video laying out PATH’s current strategy. Executive Director Greg Grubb pointed out that the agency has recently been focusing on self-sufficiency, mainly through its transitional housing program. And he thanked the attendees for their ongoing support of PATH, noting that it currently sees over 100 families a day. Go to http://www.tylerpath.org to learn more and find out how you can help.
