Guilty Plea to a Cherokee County Murder
Posted/updated on: September 24, 2014 at 2:15 amJACKSONVILLE – A man has entered a guilty plea in state district court in Rusk to capital murder in the death of well-known and well-liked Pop Warner coach Stacy Dewayne Hunter. Jimmy Deshawn Mosley Jr, 26, entered the plea in connection with the October 2012 shooting death. In exchange for the plea, it was recommended that Mosley be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. State district judge Dwight Phifer accepted the plea and sentenced Mosley to life. Hunter was shot outside Hunter’s club. The killing is said to have occurred as Mosley tried to rob the club after it closed. Mosley turned himself in to authorities a couple of hours after the shooting.
