thumb_police-4MARSHALL On Wednesday, members of the Marshall Criminal Apprehension Team, the Marshall Patrol Bureau, the Criminal Investigations Bureau, and the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested two people during a sex offender compliance check in Marshall. KETK reports a total of 46 sex offender homes were targeted in the operation within Marshall. Of that total, 44 were in compliance and two were out of compliance, according to officials. An outstanding warrant has been in existence for Damon Lamarcus Covington, 36, since November 2012, and a warrant has been obtained for Bobby Ray Thompson, 41, both of Marshall, for sex offender fail to comply.

Chief of Police Jesus Eddie Campa stated sexual offenders compliance checks will be conducted on a regular basis and anyone found to be out of compliance will be arrested. Chief Campa is asking parents to be extra vigilant of their children when they go out on Halloween, or when they participate in door to door fundraising. Chief Campa also encourages the public to check the national database for registered sex offenders in your area by going to http://www.dps.texas.gov and clicking on the sex offender registry search engine.

The Marshall Police Department is asking anyone with information on the suspects listed above to contact the Marshall Police Departments Criminal Investigations Bureau at 903-935-4540. Any after hour calls may be directed to MPD Dispatch at 903-935-4575 or Marshall/Harrison County Crimestoppers at 903-935-9969.
