KETK reports Yeakley got to see his extended family lining the streets and riding alongside him in fire engines. “He’s been in Dallas this whole time and we’re just glad to have him coming back home and being part of our family,” said Lindale Fire Chief Cory Crowell.

The signs which were raised, the flags waved, and the sirens ringing out across the city only reaffirmed what his daughter Nicole Cornish already knew. “My dad has become this hometown hero but for me; I always knew that my dad’s a hero. He’s made a huge difference in a lot of people’s lives, I think that’s why people are showing up to welcome him home because he’s a really amazing man,” said Cornish.

“It’s amazing. I can’t believe all the support we received from the community. It’s overwhelming; I don’t know what to say, just thank everyone. Thank you all very much,” said Yeakley. Yeakley still has quite a bit of rehab left to go and may need more surgeries down the road, but he is finally back home.
