Fires Displace Three Area Families
Posted/updated on: December 28, 2014 at 7:26 amEAST TEXAS – Fires in East Texas have left several families displaced. In the Winona area, a home was extensively damaged by fire. It was reported around 11:00 Christmas morning in the 12000 block of Smith County Road 316. Several county fire departments extinguished the blaze, which is thought to have started in the home’s attic. No injuries were reported.
Off Cherokee County Road 3409 in the Mt. Selman area, a family lost everything when their mobile home was destroyed by fire Christmas morning. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The day after Christmas in Marshall, a wood frame home at 1502 Bomar Street was extensively damaged by a fire. It was thought to have been started by an electric space heater that had been left on. No injuries were reported.
