robbieglennsmithmugATHENS On Monday, Robbie Glenn Smith, 66, formerly of Frankston, was sentenced in Athens to 40 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for continuous sexual assault of a child. According to KETK, Henderson County District Attorney Scott McKee says Smith will never be eligible for parole because the 40 year sentence must be served day for day. Smith will be 106 when his sentence expires.

Smith was indicted after an investigation by Henderson County Sheriffs Office Investigator Nick Web revealed that Smith started sexually assaulting the child victim twice a week from the age of four and continued the assaults till the child was fourteen. According to the victim, her younger sister was also sexually assaulted. According to authorities, some of the assaults would occur simultaneously though no outcry was made by the younger sister. The one time the victim tried to refuse the assaults, Smith slapped her and told her she would get in trouble, according to officials. The assaults would occur in a barn and a playhouse as well as a home.

The victim initially made an outcry in 2013 to a camp counselor who relayed the outcry to the victims mother. Eventually, her older sister (now an adult) confronted the defendant and called the sheriffs office. During an interview of Smith, he confessed to Investigator Nick Webb. Smith had been a member of the United States Marine Corps. He was also a 30 year employee of a service company.
