Tyler Area MPO Holds Open House on Transportation Improvement Program

thumb_cityoftylerTYLER — The Tyler Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is inviting the public to an open house today, kicking off a ten-day comment period for citizens to review and provide feedback on the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The event will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Tyler Development Center, at 423 W. Ferguson St. Copies of the draft and comment cards will be available at the open house.

The MPO is responsible for transportation planning within the Tyler metropolitan area, which includes Tyler, Hideaway, Lindale, New Chapel Hill, Noonday, Whitehouse, and Bullard. The TIP is the list of transportation improvements scheduled to be implemented during the 2015 through 2018 fiscal years. Updates to the TIP include moving the Spur 248 widening project to the Highway Projects Mobility section for FY 2015, adding an environmental study for FM 2493 during FY 2015, and updating the Highway Financial Summary to reflect the addition of funds from Proposition 1.

Tyler city officials sugggest that you visit the MPO website at http://www.TylerAreaMPO.org if you’re unable to attend the open house but would like to review the documents, Citizens may also submit feedback by emailing mpo@tylertexas.com or by calling (903) 531-1175.
