Dog Kills Elderly East Texas Woman

SULPHUR SPRINGS – An elderly Sulphur Springs woman has died after being mauled by a family pet, a Rottweiler. Killed was Betty Wood. 78. Her daughter found the woman’s body on the floor of her home in the 1400 block of North Davis Street. The daughter trapped the dog in a rear room until authorities arrived. The medical examiner’s office in Dallas determined the woman had been killed by the dog. The dog, which had been quarantined by authorities, was euthanized Friday after the medical report was received. It’s not known what triggered the dog to attack. It had been a family pet for many years.
