Armed Homeowner Interrupts Burglars

thumb_police-lights-2SMITH COUNTY — Two burglars are behind bars after being held at gunpoint by a homeowner. The Smith County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a burglary in progress in the 5400 block of Twin Lakes Drive. The homeowner told deputies he saw a gray Dodge Durango in the carport of his storage building next to his house. He reportedly saw a man and a woman in the storage building and held them at gunpoint. The woman fled the scene in the Durango, narrowly missing the homeowner.

The owner fired one shot at the vehicle. After a short pursuit, deputies were able to arrest the woman. The man was arrested at the scene of the burglary. Names have not been released.
