Longview’s Police Chief to Retire

Don DinglerLONGVIEW — Longview Police Chief Don Dingler will be retiring at the end of next month. The Longview native has served the city 42 years. He has been police chief since 2011. Starting the first of August, Assistant Chief Mike Bishop will serve as interim police chief. A set schedule has not been set for filling the police chief’s post. According to the Longview News Journal, Dingler began his career with Longview as a police officer in 1973. Over the years, he has worked assignments in patrol, traffic, training, jail services and narcotics. As a command level officer, he served as the commander in all major components of the police department.
