TISD CTC Salon and Spa Now Open

TYLER – Cosmetology students in the Tyler school district now have their own salon and spa. The CTC Salon and Spa offers a full range of services and features and includes a complete salon set-up, including styling stations, manicure and pedicure stations, and an esthetics room. Teacher Leign Ann Crump says when the students graduate, they will be ready to begin working in a salon immediately or continue on to other programs if they choose to specialize in a specific area.

Until now, the 46 students currently enrolled in the program have been practicing their skills on mannequins. However, working with real clients will help them build the time management skills needed to move through appointments while maintaining effective customer service.

Crump says they offer all services that fall in line with what is covered in the general TDLR, or the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, cosmetology licensure. When students graduate, their licenses will cover hair, nails and skincare.

The salon and spa is now open to the public, by appointment only,
during program hours: Monday, 4:00pm to 7:00pm and Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00am to 9:30am, 10:30am to 12:00pm and 1:45pm to 3:30pm. Fees are minimal and are used to replenish supplies.
