Nacogdoches County Fire Death

NACOGDOCHES – A Nacogdoches County teen has died in a weekend house fire. The fire was reported around 4:00 Sunday morning on County Road 521, south of Nacogdoches. Killed was Jose Alexis Hernandez, 18. Sheriff’s deputies tried to get into the trailer, but couldn’t because of the heat and smoke. After the fire was extinguished, the victim’s body was found in a bedroom near the kitchen. Investigators believe the fire started in the kitchen from a stovetop that had been left on overnight. An autopsy has been ordered.
