Smith County Vegetation Debris Collection Site Opens

smithcounty-sealTYLER — The Smith County Road and Bridge Department opened a debris collection site at 9 a.m. this morning for Lindale area residents who suffered damage from Friday night’s tornadoes. Vegetation debris will be collected at the site, at 10347 Farm-to-Market Road 16, just east of County Road 4104. Furniture and household debris WILL NOT be accepted at the collection site. The Smith County Road and Bridge Department WILL NOT pick up tree debris from personal property. They also WILL NOT pick up any furniture or other household debris.

Smith County was waiting to open the collection site until it could be approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Markers will be placed near the site to alert drivers to its location, Smith County Road Administrator Doug Nicholson said. The site will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 4. Following that, it will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
