Family Identifies Longview Shooting Victim
Posted/updated on: May 25, 2016 at 9:40 amLONGVIEW — As the investigation into a fatal shooting in Longview continues, the victim’s family has released his name. According to the Longview News-Journal and KETK, Devin Newson, 20, of Lakeport, was shot in the parking lot of a Food Fast convenience store on South Eastman Road just before 2:00 Monday morning. He was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Talyna Carlson. Anyone with information regarding the shooting is urged to contact police.
A remembrance event is scheduled for 5:00 Saturday at Lake Gladewater to honor Newson.
The death marks the fourth homicide in Longview in 2016. On Jan. 8, police were sent to a home in the 1600 block of 12th Street, where they found Tony Bernard Nelson, 20, dead inside the home. No arrests have been made in that death.
On March 23, the bodies of Dekeilen Joe Nelson and Kevin Lorenzo Stephenson were found near railroad tracks off Estes Parkway.
Craig Deallen Davison, 50, Patricia Francine Baker, 19, and Dustin Charles Bennett, 36, have been arrested in connection with the deaths of Nelson and Stephenson.
