Former Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Deputy Arrested for Manslaughter

KETK reports the charge is in response to a woman dying from injuries she sustained in a February wreck. According to the Van Zandt News, Mary Lena Pettiet, 33, died after a crash that took place on Highway 64 and Highway 243 in Canton. Accident reports state Deputy Emily Grubbs was en route to an emergency call when she t-boned Pettiet’s car. According to judicial reports, Grubbs was booked into the Van Zandt County jail and released on $5,000 bond.
