Officials Release Names of Two Who Died after Being Pulled from Pool

LV TWO DROWNINGS_1467230212676_9268552_ver1.0LONGVIEW — The identities of two people who died from cardiac arrest after being pulled from a swimming pool in Longview have been released. According to KETK, Justice of the Peace B.H. Jameson says the deceased were Phylis Phillips, 54, and Janiyah Ward, 5, both of Longview. On Wednesday around 1:50 p.m., Longview Fire Chief Johnny Zackary said officials responded to a house on Coleman Drive. Phillips and Ward were pulled from a swimming pool at the residence and went into cardiac arrest. Ward was pronounced dead at a local hospital around 2:40 p.m. Phillips was also pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m.

Zackary said at least one other adult and other children were at the house. The Longview Fire Department is still investigating the incident. Fire officials urge people to make sure you know how to swim if you are getting in water. Also, they remind people to wear life jackets properly.
