A Promotion at the Palestine Police Department

PALESTINE – The Palestine Police Department has a new assistant police chief today. Police Chief Mike Alexander named Lt. J.M. Herod to the post on Thursday. Herod, an 11-year veteran of the department, is currently the Lieutenant in charge of the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Herod joined the Palestine Police Department in January, 2005 where he served as a patrol officer until he was promoted to sergeant in 2008. He has has also served as the department’s firearms instructor, one of the SWAT team commanders and as a field training officer. In 2006, Herod received the Palestine Police Department Officer of the Year Award.
