GILMER – An Upshur County man has learned, the hard way, you need to show up for your trial. Jarrod Craig McBride, 36, of Ore City, was due in court Wednesday for his trial for possession of methamphetamine, with intent to deliver. He was going to trial after he backed out of a previous plea offer of 13 years in prison. Deputies had to force their way into his house to arrest him and bring him to court in handcuffs. Back at the courthouse, McBride entered into a plea bargain agreement, pled guilty, and was sentenced to 30 years in prison. He waived his right to appeal. He was also sentenced to 180 days for contempt of court, which was stacked on top of his prison sentence.
